Ken was a champion ski paddler and surfboat competitor with many state titles to his credit.  His untiring work ethic and dedication to success saw Ken achieve a very unique double in Tasmanian surf life saving: he is the only competitor to have made an Australian Final in both Open Single Ski (1985 at Point Leo) and Open Surfboat (1992 at Collaroy).
